Genera is a trio with piano, double bass and drums, expanded by the use of extended instrumental techniques, electronic devices, small instruments and sound objects.

The trio’s music ranges from fully improvised pieces to open compositions based on loose structures that organize the musical flow without forcing it into rigid forms.

The trio’s musical approach is distinctly experimental and at the same time engaging, direct and energetic, extremely attentive towards every smallest sonic detail and nuance. Elementary melodic cells, textures, noises and irregular pulsations integrate giving life to a rich, vibrant and constantly changing sound world.

All the members of the group are extremely active in the jazz, free improvisation and experimental music scenes and have extensively toured in Italy and abroad.

Genera's first album, recorded June 2022 at Abbey Rocchi Studios in Rome, is soon to be published. The album can be previewed here.
